Even though his life has been ruined i personal do not feel sorry for him, because he killed his son after the oracle told him not to, and this is his punishment. Although he killed a clan member, i don't believe being cast away was necessary, because not only was it an accident, they said violent deaths weren't uncommon in the village. I do believe okonkwo takes responsibilities to his action because he immediately left without word.
