reasons people participate in horrific events.
1.  often times the person is just sticking up for what they believe in
2. sometimes people do it because they feel obligated to
3. maybe something happened and they feel its the only way to fix it
4. brain wash in young children(Hitler youth)
5. racism
6. pleasure
7. power
8. revenge
9. avenge
10. threats of violence
overall there are many reasons why people participate, but generally its because they feel it is necessary to get a point across, and let there opinion be heard. it is an instinct to feel that no one should go through something if you don't have to. also, there is a strong greed for power among people. everyone wants to be feared so they can manipulate the weak.

the best way to overcome trauma is to meditate and tell people. when you tell people you let all the negative feelings out of you and whats left is just a memory, although that memory may scare you you will feel better. this is because if you keep the negativity  bottled up it affects how you act, and that might make people afraid of you so you feel alone and things just get worse. also meditation works because it relaxes you. as we saw in gringolandia Marcelo started to get better after they went to beach and he continued to get better as he continued to go to the beach.

those who benefited from the regime should not be responsible for what happened because they didn't plan it.
justice can only be found when their is forgiveness.
victims of the Pinochet regime are definitely in the universe of the country because they are living history. people that were involved not so much.

in nostalgia of light one of the acts of revolution was the woman who tried to find the bodies,a long with many other women. this was an act of revolution because  the women wanted peace in their country and they weren't going to find peace unless they found there loved ones.
in my opinion the most effecting act of preserving history was memorizing the camps and drawing them, because they provided visual evidence of what happened.
1. women digging
2. massages
3. star mapping

all of these arpilleras are a form of protest, so they do count as voice. they realize that the government will harm them if they speech so their voice is their art. most of these arpilleras seem to be revolution. many of them are displaying their beliefs underneath the government to start a revolution.

Identity is who you are, what you stand for, your personality, how you look. Identity is never fixed or constant, it can be changed  instantly. Some aspects of your identity can be changed very easily, seen in chapter 3 when the father came home from the airplane he looked a lot different. Yet he kept his beliefs and personality, because no matter how you torcher him, his beliefs stay the same

All three activist  had effective methods forms of voice. Using peace of violence both worked well, but I believe a combination of the two would work best. That is why I am lead to believe that Mandela's methods worked the best. I would chose this method because it is a mixture of to good methods making it great.
